„Remember: Collecting Memories“ – is an ongoing project (MA final work) in which I’m interested in objects that represent memories, collecting them and the connection between human and object. 25 participants showed me their beloved things (in total 172 things) and I interpreted them using silkscreen printing technique. New silkscreen image becomes a reminder of past – memory map. One copy of silkscreen print goes to participant, other one becomes a piece of my collection. This way I become a collector and also the creator of artefacts for the collection. Also from gathered information about participants I created a catalogue of those silkscreen prints and the owners of the things. From collected and new created images, interviews with participants I create a collection – mini kunstkammer.
During this project I created 25 silk screen prints representing 25 participants and their beloved items. Here are most of the works. Each prints size is 61x86cm, done in edition of 6 (every time one print went to the participant for his participation, other copies were for exhibiting, and space for mistakes (usually I would printed out only 3 usable copies out of 6).
“The Catalogue” of this collection/project, which consists of 25 participants brochures/maps (their interview, stories, personal silkscreen print) put in 5 folders. Each work-participant has a separate sheet – “a map” , in which are the interview with the participant, frames from filmed interview, pictures of participants notes on their things, and on other side of “map” a copy of the original silkscreen print.
Each silkscreen print was created on the same “grid” that it could be divided into square postcards. Postcards represents one item, that special thing, that holds a memory for the participant. I gave participants virtual version (jpg) of their items postcards, that they could use them. For example, send them to their friends, beloved ones which might be connected to that item and memory it holds, the card could help them remember that memory.
